But you only need 1 box per channel you wish to have access to.Įdit: also I must ask is this for business use or home use? I suppose I should have started with the fact that this setup is for businesses only. It requires a basic "server room" setup and racks and such.

I used to be the IT guy for a resort and that's how we pushed out our TV to all 200+ rooms.

Then those channels are pushed into a sort of "combiner" (apologies for misuse of tech terms im not a huge av person) then sent out to each individual room. Basically the setup would be a box for each channel (direct tv). Yes, though you might have to change companies to whom you get your cable through. I cant imagine trying to do a single line in a hotel or something :/ It's ok for a home setup where you're splitting to a few rooms twice, but for any large-scale corporate type deployment you use an MTDA and run lines from your data closet directly to each room (or with a few minor splits). Not only are there massive levels of signal loss after the first few requiring tons of amplifiers, but if a single splitter upstream goes TU the rest of the equipment downstream isn't getting a signal either. Took a lot of guessing and checking to be able to even get proper signal to the last few rooms.ĭaisy chaining/splitting coax is pretty much the worst thing you can ever do to it from a signal quality perspective.

Which caused a ton of loss near the end of the line. The person who ran ours did a daisy chain setup.not sure if that's normal protocol or not but it caused us to have to basically amplify the signal a ton at the AV room then step it down in each room at different intervals just to get proper signal. Also if you can go the route im suggesting, I would highly suggest that you run a separate line per room.
